Bigger or Better

Some kids down the street are playing a game called "Bigger or Better" for a birthday party. The idea is that they go door-to-door trading up whatever they have for something, well, bigger... or better.

Naturally, when they showed up at the door with a Kungfu Panda toy, I gave them a book. Bigger and better, right? I think so.

So... right now the kids across the street are getting some Roald Dahl in exchange for a Raiders hat (yup, I'm spying), and very soon Goodwill will be receiving a toy panda.

Too cool.

  1. You crack me up! Definitely better if not bigger.

  2. I was so happy when I saw it was going to a house with children, four children!

I've decided I need to find more sneaky ways to get books into kids hands around here.

  3. Wow. Never heard of that game, but I had always kind of had that idea in the back of my head for a PB plot. Wonder if it coudl work?

  4. I totally would have handed them a copy of The Emerald Tablet. How fun!

  5. I think it would make a clever picture book, Corey. I can imaging a few ways of doing it!

In retrospect, I wish I would have given them the Emerald Tablet and then replaced it for myself, PJ. If I get another opportunity, I will!

  7. I got a kitten in a Bigger and Better game from the 60s. She was the sweetest cat for 16 years. I love that kids are still playing the game!

  8. How fun is that, Cynthia? You have me wondering though, what did you give for the kitten? Must have been something bigger. I can't see getting much better!
