I have two tips to share with you today. The first, reposted with permission, comes from Becky of Rebecca’s Writing Journey.
"Use Forever Stamps on all your self-addressed stamped envelopes! You never know 1) how long it will take to come back to you and 2) when a postage hike will sneak up on you. If you use the forever stamp, you don't have to worry about not having enough postage on those reply letters you're so anxiously awaiting."
The second is that you follow Becky’s blog. Not only because she's chronicling her journey as a writer with great posts, but also because she posts a Tuesday Tip most weeks and has been doing it a lot longer than me. Check her archives!
I asked if I could repost the above tip because I think it’s a great one for anyone not already familiar with Forever Stamps. I learned about them last year and it’s all I buy now (unless I'm weakened by a particularly cute set of stamps – ha!).
Thanks Becky! It’s a great tip.

I never thought of the stamp thing - I guess nothing tells you how slow the whole process is like postal rates changing while you wait. Luckily, I have a bunch of Forever Stamps!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a good idea. I follow Becky's blog, but somehow missed that one!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Thanks for sharing.

Oh, man, I was gonna send you this tip! Great minds think alike. :)
ReplyDeleteForever stamps are a great idea!
ReplyDelete(I also am sometimes persuaded by the fun stamps though too...I currently have Simpsons stamps and a few Star Wars stamps left over from a few years ago...it was hard to see them go!)
Great idea :)
ReplyDeleteBecky does have good tips. I've been following her blog for a while :)
ReplyDeleteHaving grown up collecting stamps I am mighty partial toward the commeratives (pretty stamps). I don't use many stamps any more and don't buy them in great quantity. I don't think the postal hikes are really that much of a surprise if you're paying attention.

Casey--thanks so much (again) for the honor of being a featured tipster on your blog! I, too, love the fun stamps, but I always put a forever stamp on my SASE's. I've been doing it for a really long time, but that's probably because I'm married to a mail carrier so it's not hard to stay up to date on that stuff.
ReplyDeleteFunny thing...that was a last minute tip that I put up because I hadn't planned ahead. I'm glad it's been helpful!
I started using them as soon as they came on the maket too. What a great idea! Before I was always worrying if the postage changed before they sent my response (rejection), would they even bother. News is better than no news, at least in my eyes.
ReplyDeleteNot a good idea to make up return envelopes in advance...I made up a bunch of them and then we moved.
Great idea!
ReplyDeleteI'd never even heard of forever stamps. Neat idea. Thanks!
