It's still early in the day, but I figured I would do my check-in since I'm taking a break from writing at the moment.
This morning I woke up bright and cheery quite early (thank you daylight saving time,) so I decided to get a jump start on my NaNo word count for the day before the toddler was up and the day in full swing. *Sigh* I forgot how nice it is to have uninterrupted writing time. I think I'll be doing it more often.
So far I think I'm doing awesome. I'm staying ahead of the daily required word count, which is great, and I'm sure that will come in handy on upcoming struggle days (which are sure to happen.) The story itself is probably wanting, but then, I wasn't expecting to write something fabulous under these conditions anyways.
On the right of my blog, you will now find a word counter where I'm clocking my NaNo word count. The NaNo site is still running very slow and timing out, so I haven't even attempted to log my count there. I assume everyone else is having this problem too? Hopefully it will be running better soon.
That's it for today. Hope everyone else is doing great too!

Casey, I love your word counter on the right side! So cool. How did you do that? I might need to borrow that idea because it just must feel so great to watch that bar as it fills up!
ReplyDeleteI am feeling great too and was thinking I could actually hve words to put on your Wednesday word count! I am up to 4,557 words, and like you and happy to stay ahead of that word count for days when I, too, will struggle, or be too busy to write.
And, like you, UGH! That website is S....L....O....W.... excruciatingly slow!!!
Good luck and keep at it!
Hey Sheri!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're dong great. I think if you click on the counter it will take you to the site, but if not, here is the address:
http://www.languageisavirus.com/nanowrimo/word-meter.html
Keep up the great word count!
Thanks for the link. How do you then get it on your blog though? Do you go to gadgets? And then what do you click on... where would I paste that URL to get it to show up on my blog?
ReplyDeleteI figured it out! I think I put it in Java Script... I can't recall now. But will it automatically update, or will I need to do this each day?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!! I love my little progress bar. I can't wait until it is all blue!
I can't put in my word count either. :(
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your NaNo word count! And yes, uninterrupted writing is bliss!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Awesome on your writing! I'm only at 1421 but I will build on it tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteBtw, for Sheri (and for you if you're interested) and anyone else there's a little NaNo gadget like the one you currently have but it has one's username and word count tracker on it so it updates directly from the site and then when people click on it they can go to your profile on Nano. It's sort of like the best of both worlds! (see my blog for an example).
Sheri,
ReplyDeleteI added mine by going to "customize" and adding an html box. I just pasted it in there.
I have to update mine manually whenever I want to add to my word count. It doesn't take too long. You can either go to the site and re-paste the whole code each time or you can find the spot in the html and just update the number there.
Hope that makes sense!
Thanks for all the well wishes and comments everyone!
Thanks Stephanie!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to check out the NaNo gadgets but so far I can't anywhere past the homepage without the site timing out. Hopefully I will today! Their widget sounds even better!
Wow, Casey, you're doing so well with your NaNo wordcount. Woohoo!! After a weekend of visiting the parents and extensive headband-making with some friends, I'm still way behind on NaNo - hovering around 1500k. I'm gearing up to get back on track tonight though!
ReplyDeleteAnd the NaNo site's speed is killing me. I tried to listen to the first Wrimo Radio and it was painful trying to get it to load. Hopefully the traffic will die down some this week!
p.s.: Speaking of exciting news...you've been given the "I Love Your Blog!" award over at First Edition!
